ROMAN BATHS & PUMP ROOM PHOTOGRAPHY | JEN & JAMES PROPOSAL
On a warm August morning, we drove the short distance to the beautiful city of Bath, in Somerset, to photograph a romantic and unique occasion. James had arranged for a special early morning opening of the Roman Baths & Pump Room, for a surprise romantic proposal to his girlfriend Jen. And she said yes! We were there to capture that special moment, and to produce some location portraits of their very special day.
It was lovely to meet Jen and James, who are from the Washington DC area of the USA. We arrived early to set up our cameras and equipment, and to produce some images of the lovely setting of the Roman Baths before Jen and James arrived. We then started to take photos from a discreet angle, so as not to ruin the surprise, and to capture their memorable event. With their kind permission, here is a selection of images of their day. Congratulations!
The City of Bath, with it's Georgian architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which are "places of outstanding universal value to the whole of humanity". The Roman Baths attract over 1 million visitors each year, which include the archaeological remains of the Roman Temple of the Goddess Sulis Minerva and the extensive bathing complex.
Leaving the Roman Baths, we then moved off to various locations around the centre of Bath for some more location portraits. Jen & James were very relaxed and natural, which made for some lovely images.
After a quick coffee break, we wandered down to Parade Gardens, a lovely park in the centre of Bath, beside the River Avon. This made another lovely location for some more portraits.
After a short walk over Pulteney Bridge over the River Avon and down to the weir, we did some more portraits which finished off a lovely photo session.
