THE MATTHEW
On a cold April morning back in 2019, I took a trip on the Matthew, down the river Avon under the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and along the Avon Gorge. The Matthew is a modern reconstruction of the 15th century caravel that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497, and the replica was built between 1994 and 1996.
It was a great trip, well worth doing, seeing some of Bristol’s World Famous Maritime heritage, and landmarks such as the SS. Great Britain, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s famous passenger steam ship, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Here are some images from my trip……….
